‘Is Seeing Believing?’, Horizons on BBC2 tonight!

The scientific BBC2 programme Horizons explores the strange and wonderful world of illusions – and reveals the tricks they play on our senses and why they fool us. But today’s programme went further than just that, in my opinion. As it revealed the cutting edge of scientific research, its use for both civil and military purposes, it also looked at what happens when our brain re-wires itself! Yes that’s right. how our senses work – not as individual senses, but connected together.

The programme shows this amazing example of a guy called Daniel Kish, who lost his sight as a child and who is now able to create a vision of the world by clicking his tongue allowing him to perceive the space around him, like bats do.
The film also includes work and research by Beau Lotto, the scientist I am currently working with at the science Museum.
